From village to attractive business location: With its position in the east of the Main-Taunus district and bordering directly on Frankfurt to the south, Eschborn lies at the heart of the Rhine-Main region.
Until the end of the 19th century, Eschborn was a small village in front of the Taunus hills. From the 1960s onwards, important business enterprises settled here, bringing prosperity and growth to the town. Today Eschborn is one of the most attractive business locations in the whole of Germany. The five business parks are home to more than 4,000 national and international companies, including Akbank AG, Deutsche Börse, Unielektro, the Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) and, from next year on, the German headquarters of Samsung Electronics.
Nevertheless, the city has not lost its historical charm. Between the old town centre around Eschenplatz and the sculpture park in the district of Niederhöchstadt, green spaces and paths along the small river Westerbach invite visitors and locals to go for a walk or a bike ride.
Whether it is music, sports or the preservation of traditions - Eschborn prides itself on a vibrant social life that is carried by very active clubs and associations.
